n days of old when ships were driven by the wind they carried one man who was a strong swimmer. If the ship should founder then he would tie a strong rope around his waist and swim to the shore. The rope was then tied to a tree or heavy weight allowing passengers and crew to make their way to safety.

This man could be used as a simile to describe how the Christ crossed the stormy sea with a life-line for anyone who wished to grab hold. By way of this life-line we can travel from the temporal world to the spiritual world in the Here and Now, following His Way we can be saved and become free from the bondage that weighs us down.

As we go we look to the shore – we see snatches of the land to which we are going. Think of the two disciples who met and talked with Jesus by the way. Did not their heart burn within them and when they realised who it was that was breaking bread with them they dashed back to Jerusalem to tell the others that they had seen and spoken to Jesus. While they were there He appeared again, “Peace be unto you” – the age old greeting. Everyone saw at first hand that they would possess a body that was not subject to space and time like the earthly body. It will not suffer illness or limitations and it will be a willing servant of the soul in the Spirit World in which they will find themselves. more
