The Greater World Christian Spiritualist League (later to become the Greater World Christian Spiritualist Association) was founded on the 30th May 1931. It is an organisation of the Christ Mission to the four corners of the earth.

The inspiration for this movement, which resulted in Winifred Moyes dedicating her life to the work of the Greater World, came through her guide Zodiac, who was a teacher in the temple at the time of our Lord. It was set up at the request of people who at that time were building churches for the spread of the Message of Zodiac to all corners of the world. They supported The Greater World financially so that the Zodiac Address could be reproduced weekly and read in the churches. In 1936 there were 86,000 members worldwide. The Greater World is a vehicle through which the Christ Mission is spread far and wide.

The Board of Trustees give their services voluntarily. A small staff will be pleased to answer questions regarding the work of The Greater World, Churches and Mediumship. Please contact headquarters.

PREFACE
Zodiac delivered 1,475 addresses between 1924 and 1957 at meetings which often attracted thousands of people. The teachings continued to inspire those enquiring into the meaning and purpose of life, the function of the natural gifts of the Healing and Spirit Communion, and the reassurance of the immortality of the Spirit. Zodiac named his great work "The Christ Mission", and it is upon this that the Greater World is founded. Miss Winifred Moyes devoted her life to acting as the sole instrument for the inspired teachings of "Zodiac" who in his earthly life was a teacher in the Temple of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. He chose the name "Zodiac" to lift men's thoughts from the earth to the heavens".

Glorious indeed is the world of God around us, but more glorious the world of God within us."
- Zodiac

The Messages -so vast in the portrayal of Divine Truth, so revealing of the Loving purpose of God for all His Creation, would, if their spiritual significance were fully grasped, transform the world! They are given in simple language which can be understood by the ordinary mind.

The Voice is the same which gave the earlier Revelation to John. In this New Dispensation, the vision has widened, giving in greater detail the truths of the invisible kingdoms and their wonders. The mystery of the Godhead is made clear to our understanding in the three aspects of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Divine Love is again manifested in the Person of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who sends His Messenger to declare these things to us.

The coming of the Christ Messenger is symbolic of these times, and marks a new spiritual epoch - a fresh breaking through of the spiritual world into the earth conditions; and in this there is the greatest hope for mankind. We remember that our Lord foretold that the time of world tribulation and fear would be a sign of the greater manifestation of His Power. Zodiac, in his address "The Second Coming", says: "This third era- the domination of the world by the holy spirit of God- is fraught not only with much meaning, but also with responsibility which is personal to all".

In substance, these teachings are concerned with the spiritual history of man, reaching from the time of man's creation, in Perfection, in the Image of God. They show how man fell from God; and how Christ, bridging the conditions of perfection and imperfection, has been the Light which has followed man into the lowest depths into which he has fallen- Who manifested in human form, as Saviour, nearly 2,000 years ago, and now pleads afresh with man to turn from the world and seek things from the Spirit.

Zodiac has said: " I am even as he who came to prepare the way for Christ, but I am not the same....I impress upon you the message of the Christ: children of the earth, prepare, for great things are coming to pass!"

THE CHRIST MISSION
In 1921, in an "upper room" in the South of London, a Heavenly Messenger manifested through the mediumship of Winifred Moyes. It was soon realized that this communicator, who called himself Zodiac was able to give a teaching of great wisdom, and without any doubt was inspired by the Love vibration of the Christ. The Messages were taken down by Miss Dorrie Moyes, and reproduced and typewritten and duplicated form by Mr. Ralph Goddard. Other spirits spoke through the same medium, and gradually the Zodiac Circle, held every Sunday evening, became known by hundreds of people, who received the Scripts by private circulation. By 1928, some 600 copies were mimeographed each week and distributed to eager readers, who passed them on to others.

By  1925, the Scripts had been established themselves into a definite form of Teaching. Up to this time communications had been of a preparatory nature. Zodiac  began to work on some special themes at each sitting, and gradually built up what may be what may be turned an Address.

After seven years of continuing widening interest, THE GREATER WORLD was started for the sole purpose of spreading these helpful teachings, for it was clearly realized that Zodiac was engaged in great spiritual Mission. This weekly paper was founded on Good Friday, 1928, and now circulates in many countries.

In August, 1928, Zodiac gave his first address in public, and afterwards for twenty-two years, his weekly Messages were given through Miss Moyes to great gatherings in Town Halls, Theatres, Cinemas and Churches in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland; visits were also made to Paris and Holland. In 1938, a tour of Canada and the U.S.A was undertaken, and had it not been for the Second World War further overseas tours were contemplated. At home, all through the war years, 1939-1945, in spite of the blackout and terrible air-raids, which disorganized roads and railways, the weekly journeys were carried out without a break and the addresses given. The Zodiac Messages have been regularly published in French, Germen, and Dutch editions of THE GREATER WORLD. Translations have been given in Spanish, Italian and Arabic.

ZODIAC - A HEAVENLY MESSENGER OF CHRIST
The earthly name of Zodiac has not been disclosed, but he has always described as "a humble servant of the Master". He chose the name Zodiac in order to lift up our thoughts from the earth and the heavens. Zodiac has revealed that he was the unnamed scribe, mentioned in the St. Mark' Gospel (12, 28-34), who asked Jesus: "Which is the first Commandment of all?"  The answer that was given was the essence of religion: Thou shall love God with all thy being, and thy neighbour as thyself.

Zodiac was a teacher in the Temple of Jerusalem. He came from a long line of teachers and was of the House of Abraham. His duty was to expand the Scriptures and define the Law- "that intricate and so often misconstrued Law which ruled the lives and the thoughts of the people". In his address given at the Zodiac Circle in March, in 1925 (published under the title "Zodiac life on Earth"), he states:

"Experienced though I might be regarding the Word of God- of the Lord Jehovah. there were times when, in the sadness of spirit, I asked myself whether I would ever see God- whether indeed such a God existed. The Voice of God had been lost in an incredible amount of furniture, of embellishment, of misrepresentation, which had come from the minds of those who were appointed to teach.

"I want you to try to get some conception of the effect of traditional thought, of theories, of dogma and doctrine, which had been handed down from generation to generation. The Word had been added to and suffocated by the trappings of man, in his pride, thought necessary to support the Truth as given by God."

"Then, out of this night of complicated thinking, out of the greyness of dissatisfaction which was within, out of my blunted life I stepped- for Christ came! Christ came and brought me to the Light which never fades, brought me the Love which no words can tell. I watched Him. I studied Him. I was used to judging human nature in all its forms; and as I watched I marvelled, and as I listened- how I loved!"

"This whole explanation of my Mission upon Earth- the Mission that has been entrusted to me:- I saw Christ and He made me free. When Christ came into my life it seemed to me that I had never before lived, had I thought, had I Seen, had I heard. My life grew strangely impersonal--- Yes! I want you to understand that once the Truth had been made my own, the details of life, or what it had to offer, or what it took away, were nothing to me- nothing to those who loved Him as He only could be loved".

Zodiac joined the disciples. He witnessed with them the Crucifixion which followed soon afterwards, and was also among those who saw the Risen Christ. After the Ascension, the little company- the first Christian Missionaries- divided up, going into different parts of the country, travelling long distances on foot in order to spread Christ's Gospel of Love. Sometimes they were received kindly, but more often the spies sent from the Temple at Jerusalem had reached the hamlets and villages before their arrival, and they were greeted with stoning and beating and driven away. Zodiac has said that death came near them so many times that when he was slain he did not know that the physical end had come:-

"When those who hated me had done their worst- and in times of long ago the beatings were severe, and there were forms of torture hidden from your consciousness now- then God's Will came to pass and a great transition took place for me. But I knew little of the great Life of Spirit, I knew so little, but something within told me that I should be with Christ, and nothing else mattered, nothing else held me at all. And when I was awakened, there was the Master, and the greatest crisis in my life found me on my knees with gratitude pouring from my heart: for my eyes were opened, and I saw the sunshine of a future of work for Him".

Zodiac's open partisanship with the new Prophet, who was attracting so much attention, was regarded as a serious crime by the Chief Priests and Elders, moreover, he had openly belittled the time honoured customs of burnt-offerings and sacrifices. The result was inevitable! No longer was he a venerated teacher in the Temple; his symbols of office were torn from him, and he was turned into the streets as an outcast.

THE ZODIAC CIRCLE
The Zodiac Circle, which had cradled the work from the very beginning was continued, as circumstances were permitted, after the public meetings were started. It had a special function in preserving the close ties in the work, and gathering together the power needed for those who were responsible for carrying on and propagating the Mission. It also provided an opportunity to draw in fresh workers. These Circles were held in a dedicated atmosphere, and were limited to those specially invited. They were in a very real sense, personal to those present. In addition to the Zodiac's address, it was his practice to give a brief message of encouragement to each sitter. Other Spirits also spoke, each one having been chosen to bring a particular message or experience bearing upon the mission side of the work. These varied in rank from those who, when on earth, had lived very humble lives, as well as the disciples and holy ones of old. Their messages have all been published. In this way, there was demonstrated to those present mediumship in its most sacred sense, a "holy communion" which has the power to uplift mankind with new revelation, new spiritual realities, and the knowledge that Love awaits each one in the Life to come.

THE MEDIUMSHIP OF WINIFRED MOYES

Perhaps only those who were closest in the work can truly judge the remarkable gift of mediumship possessed by Miss Moyes, and the sensitivity which enabled her to be used by Zodiac. Suffering from ill-health from the age of ten, when she was eventually used as an instrument by Zodiac, her weak physical body was compensated for by an iron will and a determination which forced the body to do the bidding of the Spirit. Such was her state of health that there were many times when Spirit Power alone enabled Zodiac to control his instrument and deliver his message. The strength of Miss Moyes lay in her implicit faith in the Christ power around her. Zodiac's first act on "taking control" was to place his medium under the protection of the Cross on the altar with up stretched arms and using the invocation: "Saviour Christ, into Thy hands I commend the spirit of this Thy child".

Miss Moyes dedicated her gift of mediumship entirely to Zodiac's work. How closely she was attuned to the higher vibrations of Zodiac is shown in the perfection of the messages given. They are given in purity, unobstructed by the physical mind.

Zodiac always gave his addresses in the trance state. Mediumship which can be used to bridge the earthly and the heavenly conditions is one of God's greatest gifts to mankind. Miss Moyes possessed this gift in outstanding measure, and she used it in the way that God intended all the gifts of the Spirit to be used, namely: to bring the light of the Spirit into the darkness of the material world. In ordinary life, the psychic or mediumistic side was balanced by a vast amount of practical work: in organizing, in her highly inspired writings, and in the philanthropic work she felt urged to do, especially in the founding of the Free Night Shelters for Homeless Women.

So much has hinged upon the loyal spirit of this dedicated woman, and the gift of mediumship entrusted to her; and upon the one who, over the years, was her faithful companion and helper - Mrs Margaret Hoare, one of the note-takers for the Zodiac and the other Messages and co-worker with Miss Moyes in the work at headquarters.
